Robotized Islands

This solution performs the different tasks of a classic autopacking system. However, the main difference consists in using a multi-axis robot equipped with a highly efficient end effector. Since the robot performs both the cart-unloading and palletization and depalletizing tasks (rather than using different dedicated machines), this solution offers a highly advantageous cost-performance ratio.

In all cases, the system can handle several packing formats.

The pin cart is usually placed on a rotary platform so that the robot can unload the two pin cart sides.

The robot alternates pallet layers with separator plates, also picked up by the robot from dedicated bays.

The completed pallet is evacuated by means of e.g. roller conveyor and is moved through the usual pallet finishing operations (weighing, labelling, strapping).

Due to the hazards inherent in the operation of high performance industrial robots, the work area is totally enclosed with wire mesh protection fences; an access door allows entrance to the work area only when all machinery is stopped. All openings necessary for introducing the carts, pallets and packing materials are protected by photoelectric barriers. Hardware interlocks and strict operational procedures ensure that the work is carried out in complete safety.
